Apple Products Overview


Apple leader in its product offerings, a company that has products for all your needs and services. These products have consumers clamoring stores and online sites, each needed one of its many products to assist in their daily lives. Apple simple designs and innovations along with durability has certainly kept this company in a class of its own.


The first product, Macintosh computer was introduced on January 1984, a computer designed to be a personal computer with a graphical user interface, built-in screen and mouse, has been growing strong for over the past 30 years. This computer started with “Apple 1 and 2 between 1976 -1977, followed by the Apple Lisa in 1983 which was unsuccessful. Then came the Macintosh 128k and 512k in 1984-85, Macintosh XL, Plus, SE Classic to current Intel Mac that uses Intel chips”. (The Telegraph April 2014).

 “A dash of Apple design and usability magic have made the IPod a blockbuster, which captures more than 75% of market share and has spawned other Apple blockbusters such as IPhone and IPad.” (Kotler, Armstrong, Principles of Marketing 2011).

The IPod introduced in an era, when digital music listening devices denominated the market. IPod was a superior portable MP3 music device small enough and uniquely designed to fit into your pocket. Although they were similar MP3 music playing devices at the time, IPod reigned superior to these devices. This offered listeners up to 8 hours listening and store up to 1000 songs for their listening pleasure.


IPhone released in 2007 as a touchscreen smart phone along with advanced computer capabilities never seen before, set the standards for Apple IPhone. “Steve Jobs stated at that time Apple is going to reinvent the phone”. (Graham, Jones, T3.com). After the release of the first IPhone, Apple realizes that an upgrade was needed because it lacked GPS and video recording capabilities. The IPhone 3G was released in 2008 to compensate for the GPS and video calling from its predecessor. Apple upgrades the IPhone with evolving and amazing functions and features on IPhone which has surpassed any of their competitors from the first to the present. IPhone X, new Face ID recognition, this phone offers consumers with security features never before seen by any smart phones.

IPad was one of Apple’s first products that uses an, “Apple designed A4 Processor, 9.7 inch in measurement and 1024 by 768 pixel display with options of 16, 32 or 65 gigabyte of storage”. (R. Fingas, AppleInsider April 2018)
IPad took the IPhone multi-touch interface to a bigger display hand held screen with landscape or portrait viewing. IPad is used in schools as a teaching and learning device for teachers and students which has yield significant results for both teachers and parents.

- A research study, conducted in Auburn, Maine showed that Kindergartner students using iPads scored much higher on literacy tests than students that didn’t use the device.
- University of California Irvine Medical School reported iPad equipped medical students scored 23 percent higher on national exams than previously unequipped classes.
- According to Pearson Foundation’s survey More than six in ten college students and high school seniors agree that  tablets help students to study more efficiently (66% and 64%) and help students to perform better in classes (64% and 63%). (EdTechReviews August 2016)

Apple Watch which has internet connectivity, text messaging, voice control and fitness tracking, first introduced in April 2015 as a fashion accessory. Apple Watch also had the ability to make wireless payments, in addition to talk and text functionality, landing on Time’s Best 25 Inventions of 2014. Mashable also called it the breakout star of wearables, adding “it’s gorgeous, smart, fun, extensible… an object of true desire.” (Verzion)
This phenomenal technology giant and has never failed to surprise consumers, so let’s see what’s next from Apple in 2020 and years to come.
